Samnanger Faith Academy joins in celebrating Zambia’s Independence

Zambia got its independence on 24th October 1964. It was known as Northern Rhodesia when still under the protection of Britain. In short it was a colony of Britain. On the 24th of October each year, Zambians across the country and those in living the Diaspora come together to celebrate this important day in the history of the country. Different activities take place across the country that include, singing, dancing, poetry, plays and many others. The President of the Country leads the people in laying of wreaths at the Zambia Freedom Statue in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. The Freedom Statue stands to represent the country's fallen heroes who died fighting for the Independence that the country now enjoys. Several individuals are honored for their works to the nation and fellow human beings. Schools, Colleges and other institution do take part in these celebrations. Among the schools that take part is Samnanger Faith Academy which celebrates the day with different activities. The theme for the 2023 independence Day Celebration was “Accelerating National Development through Equitable Distribution of Resources”. From the day of independence, the country has had 7 Presidents.
