The Project started small, as a collaboration between a prayer-group of women in Kanyama, Lusaka, in Zambia, and youth work in a local church in a small town, Samnanger, in Norway. It has grown steadily, and has been expanded to an international organization, which mainly consists of running our school for poor children in the Kanyama compound in Lusaka. You may read our story here.
We consist of two teams, one in Lusaka, Zambia, and one in Samnanger, Norway, who together run the school Samnanger Faith Academy, and we’ve also started up with microloans for women and the underpriviliged/disadvantaged to help them get back on their feet. In Norway we are registered as The SamZam Project with organizational number: 927 021 935. We are also registered in Zambia as a NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), which makes it possible to apply for more funding.
The group in Zambia, those who took initiative and started the school along with Frazer, call themselves Soul X Ministry, as they wanted to connect with the group of youths in Samnanger who helped and supported them, called Soul X. This is why we have two logos in conjunction with The SamZam Project. One for the group of wonderful ladies in Soul X Ministry and the good work they do (to the left), and one specifically for our school and the project (to the right).
Cooperation between our teams work well, and in Norway we try to have meetings with the board approximately every other month, where we discuss and work with the operations and further development of our project. The main agenda for these meetings is how to acquire income for the project, which we wish to expand. You can read more about this here.
